Sun Safety This Summer

Sun safety is a huge priority in my family. I had a great Uncle pass away from skin cancer, my mother had Melanoma, and I have already had three suspicious looking “freckles” removed. Not too mention, I am as pale as they come- it is quite easy for me to get burned.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t matter what skin tone you have, everyone is at risk. To help prevent skin cancer, wearing an SPF 30 or higher daily is essential, no matter the weather.

Since I live at the Jersey Shore, my friends and I are very careful about being out too long in the sun, or making sure to really cover up when we head to the beach. We know now that not only does the sun cause skin cancer, but chronic UV exposure will give you winkles, hyper-pigmentation, and age spots.

Here are a few of my favorite sun blocks for face….

and for body…

On top of that sunblock, you can protect yourself with clothing and accessories!

Adding sunblock and other skin protectors is essential, and so is staying up to date on skin protection news. One company I discovered which is great with this is called Oscar, which is a health insurance company based in New York. Oscar uses technology to help members stay informed and on top of subjects such as skin protection. They recently wrote a great blog post about ‘protecting your biggest organ” – your skin. They offer some quick tips on SPF use and even how to get a vitamin D fix.

Another thing I love about this company is that they keep things simple and smart; they have a team of nurses and healthcare experts on call to answer any questions, even something as simple as what foods can help with getting your vitamin D. It’s even free to talk with a doctor over the phone anytime. It’s like having a doctor in the family, doesn’t that sound nice?

I hope you are all enjoying your summer so far and being diligent about sun safety. My goal is to keep sun protection in mind and be super safe, while also enjoying the warmth we’ve all been waiting for. I also plan on making sure to have healthcare experts in my life, such as the teams at Oscar Health Insurance. After all, you can never be too careful with your most beautiful asset!

Graduation week!

I have finally graduated from high school. I can not even explain how happy this makes me. I realize one of the easiest parts of my life is over (haha) but I’m just so ready to move on and try something new! My high school experience taught me a lot:

1.)Dont judge others, you do not know what they’re going through

2.) How much my generation is obsessed with themselves and materialism

3.) How surprisingly kind some can be

4.) How to handle much rejection and not let it affect me

5.) Spirituality

6.) Do not care what others think of you

7.)Over-thinking will kill you

8.) Health is so so so important

9.) I appreciate who I am

10.) I can do anything I want in my life as long as I work hard.

So I was thinking lately, I really want to work harder I do. But why can’t I? My mind is always foggy, I’m always so tired. I am about to start my new life and I want to start on an excellent note. Recently I keep finding, seeing, or hearing things about juice detoxes. I know how good it would be for me to do it, I am just nervous I’ll fail and be extremely disappointed. I also…. love… food. A lot. Fortunately I am not over weight by any means, but I do have several immune related health problems. And I know changing my diet will help me with everything. Quiet honestly I think its inevitable and I should just go out and buy a juicer now. My sister is even willing to join in with me! Maybe Ill try it out and post how its going everyday, and include pictures.

I feel like my diet has also affected me emotionally, and its been taken out on others :/

I hope you’re all doing well. Summer is here and I am so happy for that and thankful!!

Last Few Summer Days…

I’m glad to say that I feel like I have accomplished what I wanted to accomplish this summer.. Theres a few things here and there that I should probably still get done… but in terms of creativity and memories I think this summer was successful. School is starting in 3 days.. yikes. I’m going to have a difficult senior year, but with a good outlook it can also be an exciting year. I hope you are all having wonderful final days of summer. And if school has started, I hope its treating you well. Remember to accomplish those things you wanted to do this summer before its out of reach and we welcome my favorite time of year, autumn 🙂

I’ve found some things you guys may be interested in…

Have a beautiful night…

Boardwalk Night

Hey guys, so I decided to go with boardwalk night for our anniversary last night and it was so fun! It was the perfect temperature and we got to go on the beach for free since it was after 6. We shared a delicious pizza in Point Pleasant at the coal fire house.. And then we were able to find parking for the boardwalk (thank god). We decided not to go on any rides but to just walk around and experience the craziness of the boardwalk. Which is always entertaining ! Then I tried one arcade game but kept losing so I thought that was a hint to get going. So we walked all the way across the boardwalk, got in the car and went to my house. I didn’t want him to leave yet so we watched a movie and then finally called it a night. I thought it was a great night. And we didn’t spend a lot of money which is always good.

I hope everyone else had a great Thursday !
